GALLERY

Welcome to my gallery, where I feature paintings and haiku as part of my ongoing study of East Asian brushpainting.

Chinese ink and watercolor painting dates back to the Tang Dynasty more than 1,000 years ago. The style was later adopted by Japan, which incorporated Zen Buddhist and Shinto principles to create a unique style that honors the seasonal cycle of nature. All East Asian brushpainting emphasizes the beauty of individual brushstrokes, simplicity, and harmony to capture the spirit of nature rather than photographic likeness.
